Oct. 8, 2026 CPUC Voting Meeting Preview: Large Loads, SoCalGas Costs, Direct Access

A jam-packed CPUC voting meeting is set for October 8. Among the items before the Commission are:

• Competing proposals for allocating biomethane costs;
• A proposed $92.5 million disallowance of SoCalGas pipeline-integrity costs;
• A proposed decision rejecting an effort to lift California’s Direct Access cap; and
• A proposed framework for Liberty Utilities’ recovery of costs from the 2020 Mountain View Fire.

The Commission will also consider matters involving Diablo Canyon costs, energy efficiency, wildfire mapping and distributed energy resources. A particularly notable item is Draft Resolution E-5455, which the CPUC has repeatedly delayed action on. The item would approve PG&E’s agreement to energize a 250-MW Google data center in San Jose while requiring Google to provide as much as $150 million in additional refundable capital advances for network upgrades.
